After lunch and a moment of rest, take a stroll through the winding jungle trails in Casual and observe a variety of giant trees known by the locals as "Avatar." Nauta - Iquitos - Lima - Extension EndsStart your morning with a quiet breakfast on board before visiting Nauta - the second largest city in the region. Once you disembark, visit the city's market where you'll get to know the local Amazonians through traditional foods, drinks, and craft stalls. On your way to the airport, visit Amazon Forever Bio Park where biologists and volunteers care for manatees, an endangered species. Continue your transfer to the airport where you will connect in Lima for your flight home. |

The overall activity level of this extension is a level 3. This means walking and standing for longer periods of time (2-3 hours) isn't a big deal for you. You can navigate hills and uneven ground, climb into various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk, cable car, zodiac, etc.), and could possibly anticipate changes in elevation. Walking four miles over the course of a day is very doable as is climbing 3 flights of stairs. You can handle altitudes between 6,000 and 9,000 feet. You can expect some longer days balanced with free time. This level is not a fit for travelers that require mobility assistance devices.
A Hosted Extension is great for travelers who like to spend full days exploring places on their own by foot or public transportation. During this extension, you can expect to have a hosted experience or two, with a local representative revealing more of what this destination has to offer. A dedicated Tour Manager will not be present during this extension.

Ascend to Machu Picchu in the early hours of the morning on your own. Be one of the first to enter the sanctuary just as the sun rises over the high mountains encircling it. Spend time exploring the grounds at your leisure or merely pick a spot to sit and enjoy the morning serenity of this magical place. This option needs to be purchased at least 30 days prior to tour departure and is non-refundable after purchase. Duration: Approximately 5 hours. Please note a minimum of 6 passengers is required.
